A W.I.P and a Friday funny

 WIP = Work In Progress

No photos of the garden today, after I finished yesterdays blog post I went outside and watered the garden, the sun is heating up now and it doesn't take long for the ground to get dry and hard. I must have spent an hour, give or take, watering the greenhouse, around the greenhouse and up in the top garden. Two hours later it rained, poured in fact. Never mind though the garden will love it. Saves me doing it all again today, perhaps just the greenhouse will need some later.
So, getting back to the photos of the garden I had intended to share today, I didn't take any, it's been overcast and muggy and not the best day for taking photos. I'll try over the weekend.
I don't mind the heat, it's the humidity that gets me, it's like someone is sitting on your shoulders. Metservice says 70% humidity today, so a bit high and it was pretty high in the can't be arsed % too.
I lounged on the sofa with the latest book I'm reading 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling pants'. "Pants" as in trousers, or in this case jeans. Pants where I'm from are knickers!

It was so good I woke up an hour after managing two chapters and then I only woke up because someone was snoring, I'll blame the dog!
I leaped off the sofa (well it was more like fell off the edge and dragged myself along the floor) and made some lunch, brought it back upstairs to watch a movie with the air con on. The movie was called 'The Vintners Luck' an NZ made movie, I managed about 20 minutes and deleted it from MySky. I thought I'd like it, it was about wine after all. The plot, unlike a good aged wine, did not improve as time went by.
 W.I.P
Yesterday I did some of a quilt I started a while back, then got distracted by everything else going on. Blimey I started it back in July! These things take time you know, I mentioned it at the beginning of this post here. Today I did some more, I cut out and sewed a few more small blocks I needed......
The way the pattern works makes it appear like a basket weave effect

Each strip, either horizontal or vertical, is of the same fabric.
It's a bit of a challenge to not muddled the strips or the direction in which they lay.

I managed to sew five rows, so half of it today.
Click on the photos to enlarge, you'll see the pattern better.
When I've got all the rows done I them have to sew the rows together.
I'll put  a red narrow strip around all edges, then  a black wider strip around that, Not sure if it will be a solid black or with some pattern, most likely solid, it's quite busy as it is.

Friday funny
It's been a while since I've done these, here's something to make you chuckle and set you up for the weekend. Whatever you're up to have fun!
I'm slowly getting through your blogs, if I haven't commented on yours yet don't worry I'm getting there, you've all been very busy whilst I've been AWOL.

Love this Japanese Doctor!
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.
Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

I'm doomed!!
