Organised chaos

Well okay perhaps it's just chaos, things get worse before they get better right?
Packing continues and I think I am over the halfway point, I started in the family room today emptying the tall display cabinet.

Yesterday was a busy day, Joe and I started clearing the spare bedroom downstairs, then with Michael and Natasha's help we shifted everything upstairs. Once that room was cleaned M&T started bringing some of their stuff down
Whilst all that was happening I was emptying my dressing room.
Today as I was packing Joe was cleaning.
We've both reduced clothes etc down to a minimum and it's all in our bedroom
Upstairs is in semi chaos, maybe tomorrow we'll tidy up a bit before we're lost amongst it 😂😂
The hallway is a mess
The bed from downstairs is in what was my craft room, that bed is staying and we'll use that room on the occasions we stay over. Everything else in that room needs to come out but will stay there until moving day. Some of it needs boxing up.
In the opposite bedroom is where we're storing the furniture and fragile boxes we're taking to Raglan.
A few more boxes added in here
The lounge where I had all my books is looking the bleakest of all. Apart from the coffee table, all the furniture is staying, I think M&T want the sofas in the TV room.
We're taking the cream leather suite and TV with us, the rest is staying, we've no need now for all the furniture that fills this place
One car load of unwanted items went to the Op Shop today and lots of books and magazines went to The Village Cafe on Thursday, so I am de-cluttering but I think I could do better!!
And that's us for today, Joe's is watching the Chiefs play rugby this evening and I'm watching Godzilla on Netflix, absolute tripe but the sound system is having a ball!

Enjoy your weekend, I'm looking forward to relaxing weekends at the beach.
19 more sleeps.

Big changes ahead

There's been a name change for this blog, I'm still working on the header, but it's now called
"Living a Life at the Beach"
Because...........
We're moving....to Raglan!! in 22 sleeps time!
It just kind of happened really, at the beginning of the year we both realised that some changes needed to be made, this place had become too much for us and we were struggling to keep on top of all the work that needs to be done. And when you realise that all your holiday time is spent working here, you know then a change of pace is needed.
Initially we had a 2 to 5 year plan, get the main jobs finished here, sell and move to the beach. We'd bumped that time frame up from retiring to the beach which was at least 15 years away for Joe.Who knows what can happen in that time, lots can.
Raglan is one of our favourite places, we go there a lot, it's only 30 minutes away. We only went for a look at an open home, then at another and so an idea was born. As I said the move wasn't going to happen for at least 2 - 5 years, and then we saw a place, and it felt right. So long story short we bought a house and Joe can still commute to work.
Without going into the details, Michael and Natasha are taking over the Lifestyle block, we'll still be involved but the responsibility will be theirs.
We're all very excited, we went unconditional (locked in) last Friday, the 14th, the best Valentines present ever, and we take over the new house on the 12th March. 6 weeks from start to finish, it's so much easier buying and selling homes here in NZ.
So I'll leave you with a photo of the new place in Raglan, 20 mins walk to the centre of town and 8 mins to a stunning bay, no harbour or sea views but you can just get a glimpse through the trees.
Oh and the best thing....no more hard graft!

You'll have to wait for internal photos, just 22 more sleeps!!
I'm packing like a mad woman and we're painting the outside of the house!! We'd started it before all this happened, it's looking really good.

I'll be back
