So what was I saying? Ah yes, what happened this week? We-eell, I did some sewing, craft is back on after the Christmas break and I had a Suesday! Yay!! Too hot to be doing things outside, not unless you get out there early.
Some time ago I started a black and white quilt, I've been working on it and have got the main body of it finished, I'm happy with it. I would like to put a inch wide red border around, to pick out the red and then finish with a wider black border. I'll take this one to be quilted.
Another quilt started an age ago is an Eye spy quilt I wanted to make for my nephew Mason, I made one for his brother Aston some time ago and now it's Masons turn
Aston's quilt, I can't find the photo of it finished.
I'm in the process of machine quilting Masons and I've used a colourful fleecy backing, so called 'Eye spy' because it's got a little bit of everything in it. I hope he likes it.
Earlier in the week we went out and bought a new vacuum cleaner, I know, I know such excitement, I kill cleaners quite regularly, I'd had a few over the years and to be honest some of them can only have been designed by a man who has never vacuumed in his life. Don't get me started...here's the new vacuum...I like it, well I don't like it really because I hate vacuuming, but it works well, and nothing has fallen off....yet! Bloody cheap plastic shite...don't get me started!
Gadget number two bought this week, a George Foreman Mix & Go, Joe was after the Nutribullet or whateveritiscalled, but opted for this one, better motor or something he said...can't remember! ;-D He's used it and said it was good, it will at least keep him regular! I've yet to try it.
Gadget number three bought this week, an ice cream maker. I used it yesterday as friends and Michael & Tash came for a BBQ, and I'm not entirely sure what went wrong but it didn't set, so will have to try again.
Now for Suesday! Yesterday was the first Suesday of 2015, for the latter part of 2014 these days were few and far between, There was too much going on with Joe after his op on his knee, appointments and all that jazz. So now he's back to work things should get back to normal, pffrt, normal? I don't do normal hahha.
We did our usual round of oppies and I found some goodies, they were just leaping out at me. Here they are.....
Heaps of crafting stuff and all really cheap
Cool flower pot, necklace, one of the beads has cracked in half but will easily be fixed with superglue and a big book of iron on patterns.
...and more books because I clearly don't have enough.
I have set myself a reading challenge on Goodreads, 52 books in 52 weeks, so far I'm on track. I always loved to read as a kid, but over the last few years I haven't done much reading at all, too many other things going on I suppose. Since joining the book sharing scheme last year, I have got my reading head back and I'm making the time to read again.
Here we are at Hamilton lake yesterday after Sueshi for lunch! We're back!!!!
Go and check out Sue's blog "You can call me Sue"
I will leave you with this, someone shared it on Facebook and it made me laugh. I will admit to ensuring that one always looks one's best when one is sewing.
See you soon xx
Hey Sue - I like your quilts. I always thought I would take up quilting one day, but haven't as yet. We have one of those Mix&Go and I have to say it's fabulous. It is powerful and makes some great smoothies. I might even make a vodka slushie one day! Some goodies from your Suesday. I always try to look neatly put together by the time my husband arrives home too.... this is not related to the slushie comment. cheers Wendy
ReplyDeleteOOh a vodka slushies sounds great! I only learned to quilt in the last 7 years, since we moved to this road and I was invited along to a craft evening. Those evenings turned into days and I so pleased I had the help and support of the crafty ladies of Karakariki :D
DeleteGlad you got your quilting MoJo back! I like the black and white with a touch of red number. Crikey that's a fancy looking vacum, I have a Dyson that I bought about 18 years ago, it's still going strong.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad too, got loads of ideas going around in my head :D
DeleteI think the earlier Dysons are so much better then than they are now, they're pretty expensive too. Outrageously priced :(
I've got one of the first dysins, still going strong
ReplyDeleteI've had a couple of uprights and I've hated them, they vacuum fine, but it's the tools and attachments..gaaaahh! :D
DeleteYep I've got a Dyson too ... love it ... well as much as you can love a vacuum.
ReplyDeleteThat black and white quilt looks great ... and I think your idea of the red border is spot on. Looking forward to seeing the end result :0)
xx
I;ve had two upright Dysons and they pick up great but I hate the attachments & tools. I just need to find the right red....bet I can't!! :(
DeleteGlad to read your sewing mojo has returned again Sue ... look forward to seeing your creations this year. Great new op shop finds by the way :-)
ReplyDeleteGot lots of ideas Julie, just got to get on with them. I'm planning on clearing stuff out of the barn, we're all hoping to have our craft days and the odd weekend or two up there. Not sure I'll have it done by this Thursday though.
DeleteI love the black and white quilt, with its touch of red. I have had my vacuum cleaner for 16 years and it is still going strong. I have been eyeing an ice cream maker from Briscoes, they're on special. That advice on Sewing cracked me up. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI must be pretty brutal with mine lol, they tend to blow up in me :D First attempt at ice cream didn't go so well, will have to try again.
DeleteI like the black and white number. My it's been hot. My mojo must have been on holiday with yours I think!
ReplyDeleteI do too :D It's going on one of the spare beds. Although Michael's girlfriend loves it. If they get engaged they can have it lol! It's been really hot the last couple of days, we've got a few hours work done in the garden this morning whilst there was some cloud cover, that's gone now, so it's time to chill under the air con and watch some recorded TV :D
DeleteAright luv! your Scouse is fab! it seems I follow the Singer advice to the letter........................hahahaha! as if!! made me laugh! you are a quilting queen though, I can't even imagine how tricky it is (bear in mind, I get my left and right mixed up) I kill hoovers too, my new one is crap on wooden floors, I still use the brush...and it's a flaming dyson!! - does your ice cream maker metal bowl come out? ours has to go in the freezer for 24 hours before mixing anyhoo, Love you two Sues!! you are a pair of stars x x x
ReplyDeleteWalking into a room and forgetting what I went it there for happens all too often these days, so I walk back out again, remember, walk back in and forget. (This room good and beautiful) See more...
