Christmas Morning breakfast
Award winning locally reared ham, free range eggs from the neighbour and pork pie from the farmers market
Toast with the latest batch of marmalade, made with Seville oranges from the garden
The rest of our day was spent reading our books, lazing on the deck, snacking with the odd beer and wine. Then we decided that we really ought to have some dinner, although we dispensed with the salmon I'd bought for the entree, we couldn't even manage the fresh strawberries and blueberries I'd planned on piling on top of mini pavlovas for dessert. So we just had a delicious meal of Morrocan spiced lamb, new potatoes, (from the) garden salad and fresh beetroot.
A few days later on the 30th December we packed up the car and headed off to spend the new year with friends at the beach
We were expecting lots of traffic, but we had a clear run all the way.
Mount Aroha, the mountain of love
See the sea!!
Mayor Island on the horizon and the glorious turquoise of the Pacific Ocean at Waihi Beach.
Two days before we went away I just thought I'd go look at tents!
Well......I can't just look! I bought a tent and an inflatable mattress.
It took a while to pump the mattress up, the tent went up in no time.
Home for the next couple of days.
Our Neighbours
With both Swiss and Austrian heritage, our friends bach looks like a giant cuckoo clock I reckon, all it needs is a big cuckoo hanging out over that top balcony!
Looking pretty cosy
It's been a few years since we went camping, it was going to be make or break night
Not long after we arrived the chaps arrived back with a large haul of fresh caught snapper. Guess what we had for dinner? There's nothing quite like fish so fresh that it was swimming around in the ocean a few hours earlier
The neighbour across the road went all out with their xmas decs this year
New years eve morning Joe & I wandered to the end of th eroad and sat drinking our morning cuppa enjoying the following views. I could look at this every day. One day.....
The boating club where we saw the New Year in.
Joe dreaming of the boat he'll have one day
In the afternoon we wandered across the the Boat club and had a couple drinks whilst the fellas played pool
A bit later we strolled up to the cafe and had a bite to eat and listened to some live music
Kerry & her sister Dale
Dale's hubby Trevor and Kerry's Pete
Us
Not to be confused with Chris Thompson of Manfred Manns Earth band!!!
The rest of the evening, back at the bach, looked pretty mush like the last two photos
And that's all I took, we just enjoyed the evening and to see in the New Year we went back over to the boat club. There was live music on here too.
We danced the rest of 2017 away to
The Tim Armstrong Band who were excellent
And now we look forward to later in the year, in a little under 11 months time our lovely son and his gorgeous fiancée will be married. And it sounds like we're going to have a houseful.
So much to look forward to
