I do the same thing!!! Still have 15 jars of zuchini pickle relish from 2008. I don't think I need to make any yet again this summer!! LOL
BTW, I see you all in Australia and New Zealand use leftover jars to preserve in...do you have to process them at all? Up here in the states everyone is so concerned about botulism, that we feel the need to cooked, can, then process everything!! If I could get away from the final step...that would be great!
Hi Debby, all I do with the jars is put them through a hot wash in the dishwasher, no detergent. I just make sure the lids are ok, any sign of rust etc I ditch them! Hot chutney in hot jars, put on the lid and as it all cools the lids pop in ans all sealed! I ain't dead yet! Het Mel, yeah the colour is ..well....bright!!!
Can you ever have too much? :) The jars are so pretty and festive. Care to share your recipe some time?
Our gardens will be ready to plant for the summer in about 4 weeks and I am very excited about it. I took a chance last week and planted a small section of beets, they are just poking through the soil now, fingers crossed they won't get frost.
I love reading your comments and I thank you for taking the time to write them. I do my very best to reply to every one of them right here on the blog. When you leave your next comment tick the 'email follow up comments' and then you'll get any replies I leave. Thank you for reading my blog.
