There's a bright light......

.................it's there and I can almost touch it.

I am happy to say I have finished the painting! Ta daaaaah! Well there may be a bit of touching up to do, and the door at the top of the stairs needs a quick cost of paint, nothing fancy as it will be replaced, just a quick coat of white on it will do.

This is the passageway that leads off the main hall and goes to the laundry, which is bahind me as I take the picture. First door on the left is the hot water cylinder cupboard, the secong is the shower room, the third is the loo. None of these doors have been painted as we are replacing them....sometime, hopefully soon.

Still to do here: Put light shade back up. Replace doors.
Carpet to be laid.
View from the front entrance
Still to do here: Remove old carpet and underlay, get new carpet fitted, put lamp shades up, curtains rails up at the window and front door. Hang curtains.
Doors to bedrooms
Still to do here: Empty both bedrooms, remove bedroom carpets and check that existing underlay is still okay to use. Light shade up.
Stairs to loft
Still to do here: Remove carpet. Lightly sand wood and put on a coat of clear polyurethene varnish. Joe has a small amount of paint retouching, I can't reach.
View towards front entrance, the dark passage way is what leads to the laundry
Double doors to lounges, door to office, stairs that lead to lower floor
Still to do here: Make good the door frame to office, hang new door so it opens inwards.
Banister and stairs to lower floor
Still to do here: Buy tinted varnish for wood top and seal, fit new glass to double doors to lounges, fit door handles etc.
Above the stairwell, and door to small bedroom
Still to do here: Fit light shade, empty bedroom, remove carpet and check underlay is okay to reuse.
Stairwell to lower floor
Still to do here: Remove the bit of carpet at bottom of stairs
I would just like to say that out of all the jobs we have done throughout the course of the renovations, for me this was by far and away the worst! I actually rang Joe to tell him I hated him and his bloody zig zags and that I was going to inprint zig zags on his bloody head when he got home!
What a blummin' nightmare cutting that lot in!
Still to do here: Push Joe down them! Muhahahahaahahah!
Are we nearly there yet???????

PS Carpets are booked to be fitted a week on Wednesday! Then I'm getting plastered...of the alcohol induced kind!

  2. Thank you Blossom! :D And he was too fast for me! Don't worry though I'm training the cat to do the wrap-around the leg thing at the top of the stairs!

  3. Your house is stunning Sue, I really love the hall with the big window.
Had a wee reminiscent moment when you said hot water cupboard... I sooooooo miss not having a hot water cylinder to air things on, it is one of those weird things here, no hot water cupboard to be seen. People look at me funny when I mention it. When I lived back in NZ clothes aired, bread raised, yoghurt fermented and even baby birds and even the odd baby bunny stayed warm in my hot water cupboard - they don't know what they are missing.

  4. Thanks Wendy. RE the hot water cylinder cupboard! I know what you mean, and I suppose if the cupboard had shelves we could use it as an airing cupboard. Trouble is it leaks slightly so that dark staining wouldn't look too good. :D We aim to replace it at some point. We have a Marshall heater(furnace) to heat our water, and so it costs nothing to heat the water. It will cost so mucch to replace it that we are looking at other options. It is a real pain to have to go get the wood! You can always guarantee there's no hot water when I want a shower!
