Fush & chups, fishing & a sunset at Raglan 15.01.15

Joe works shifts, he starts with two nights and sleeps during the day, when he wakes after the second shift the rest of the day and evening he's at home, then he does the two day shifts. After that he's off for 3 1/2 days before going back on night shift on that fourth night, where it starts all over again. As we've been having such lovely weather he thought it might be a nice to head down to Raglan in between the night and day shift shifts, so that's what we did. The initial plan was to go to the beach first, let Max have a run, Joe do some fishing and then go get fish & chips from the Wharf, then I hoped to get some sunset pictures. We ended up getting the fish and chips first and taking them to the beach, that way we didn't have to go back to get sunset photos. Now you may be thinking that surely the hunter gatherer himself would have caught sufficient fish for our tea that night! Well think again my lovelies, there appear to be no fish in the sea in NZ! Never mind though the fish & chips were good, the dangling bits of bait in the water fishing enjoyable and the sunset pretty amazing. My camera seems to really intensify the colours when I use the zoom lens. So with out further ado, here are a few of the photos I took. If you want to see some more you can have a look at the ones on my Facebook page
I wanted to try and recreate a photo I took years back of Joe fishing in the surf at Raglan with the sun setting, the picture is the first picture, I didn't getting it exactly, the camera played silly buggers just when I thought I had it, never mind  though, I like some of them and there's always other days.

See ya next time, I'm off to do a bit of sewing today

    1. I know it's pretty spectacular down there, one day we'll venture around the headland and watch it from the other side. Ah yeah our Maxy, he loves it down there, still doesn't seem quite right without Clyde there :(

    1. I thought you would like that, haha, I probably would have peed at some point too! Sad innit, good pelvic floor muscles are all but a distant memory. I can do all sorts of accents, I am terrible really, I tend to break into the accent of people I'm with, I reckon they think I'm taking the piss lol

  6. The West Coast of NZ is a wonderful place for great sunsets...yours included. Shame about the lack of fish ....I think they are catching some further South. Better luck next time. The sea air will have done you good.

    1. When we went to see friends just before New Year, they are regular fishermen, and they were having no luck at all, apparently the trawlers went through before Christmas. You'd think they would not do that for the two weeks when everyone is on holiday so they could at least do some recreational fishing. And yet they limit them, never the big catchers. Summat wrong there.

    1. I see the US is getting some shocking cold weather, also the UK where our families are. I couldn't live with that cold anymore, so stay warm and be safe. Some of the road accidents over on your roads have made it to NZ tv, they look pretty bad, one videao I watched was purely people driving too fast! Not good :(
