A few months back Beryl our kune kune sow had her first litter of piglets, sadly she sat on and squashed 4 and the last remaining 3 died overnight. So as you can imagine a sad time for us and a confusing one for Beryl.
So it was with some trepidation that we awaited the arrival of her next litter. I can happily say that things went a whole lot better this time.
She gave birth to 6 piglets 2 weeks ago.
Sadly she managed to squash the black and white one, it didn't get out of the way quickly enough. We began to think that we were heading for disaster again. But 2 weeks later and they are doing great and have started exploring their new surroundings. Beryl has proved to be a very good mum, well done Beryl.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHarriet our Kune 3 weeks ago,had 1st litter,we followed a tip from breeder which is,fix right around inside shed,pipe/batten or such around the walls abt 20cm high from floor and about 20cm away from the wall--This gives piglets a chance to get clear of mums weight
