It would appear that Michael is going to take after his father. Those of you that know Joe well will understand immediately when I say that he has the knack of suffering the odd injury or two occasionally.
Last season playing touch rugby Michaels thumb got broken, this year it is still giving him trouble so we have now started attending physio sessions to try and improve the aches and pains he has been getting. It didn't help that the break was right next to his growth plate and the physio thinks that some calcium build up in the joint is what may be causing the ache and occasional pain. We'll have to wait and see how it progresses.
The reason we have sought help with this is due to another injury Michael got on his birthday. He broke his nose!! And not how you would assume either, it was not whilst playing rugby! It was at youth group on a Friday night somewhere on a hill near Cambridge. Running headlong into someone in the dark probably had something to do with it! Apparently it bled very well! After a week the swelling had not really gone down and the nose had developed a nice little curve! So off to the doc's they went. Next day he saw a specialist, and by the following Wednesday he had it operated on! It's not perfect, but if it gives him any problems in the future, they will need to operate again!
So now he can't play rugby this season, he is not impressed with that I can tell you! So we thought if he has this time out then we could follow up on the thumb and get him back into one piece for next season in time for him to damage something else.
Sigh!! Sport is good for you....or so I've been told! I still reckon it's a lot safer on the sofa!
Michael before the break!! With Bonnie.
He's far too ugly now to post further photos!! ;)
