Thursday craft - A new quilt and a finished project (well almost)

I missed the last week, possibly two, of craft and so I aimed to do a bit of catching up today. The last time I was there I started cutting some black and whites and made a start on sewing some together. Today I carried on with the sewing together and got all of the cut pieces done. The quilt is mainly going to be black & white but I intend to throw in a bit of red for contrast.....

The pattern creates a weave like effect...

The same fabric is placed in the same row either vertically or horizontally, I've tried to show how it will work in the photo below, the length of fabric with the red is on the left.
I still have to cut that out and I will incorporate it in somehow.

So a work in progress, I'm thinking it will go on the bed in Michael's old room.

I've been crocheting a small blanket for a while and finally got it finished yesterday, finished as in used all the yarn up. I had quite a few balls of it and started with a square, then I continued crocheting the same shell design around the edges until I ran out of wool. I have some ends to sew in at the back and I may add a polar fleece backing to it to make it extra snuggly.

Apparently there has been a football world cup on, personally I would rather have teeth pulled without anesthetic than endure watching it.
I have been reliably informed that it will all be over on Sunday

 Short and sweet today.
See ya next time

  1. That is going to be a beautiful quilt. I sure do wish I had your ambition. Most days I have just enough energy to get through the day's basic needs.

You inspire me, but, apparently, not enough to get me going. :)

  4. The black/white/red quilt is beautiful, you have some seriously good skills there, I can't even fathom how it's made! the crochet blanket is gorgeous too and with cosy fleece, bliss! I have been oblivious to the footy, I have the laptop while it's on, which will change when it's all over (Dave normally has custody of the laptop in the evening!) x x x

  8. Hi Sue, thanks for your nice comment on my Painted Acorn Santa Ornaments! What a fun blog you have here! I love all your growing, cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting...all of it! When I only have a limited amount of odd yarn, I do the same thing...crochet in a square until it is all gone! Such a practical way to use up every last inch!
