War on clutter resumes!

Well I think I took a long enough holiday since the last lot here, so it was about time I got back to the task in hand!
Heather; At Home in The Townships has been waging her own war on the clutter and she looks like she's winning too. So I'm taking her lead, Heather is doing one entire room a week. For some of my areas I don't think I will need that long, but I think I may when I get started on the kitchen!
I really do need to start in the kitchen, but I'm waiting on Joe to fix a few shelves, so I'm not doing anything until that's sorted.

I've been busy in the kitchen anyway being Mrs Pickles! So today I decided to do the laundry upstairs, it's a good sized room and gets a lot of use, through traffic and often ends up and as a dumping ground. The pictures as follows are before and after shots.

Jinx my ever present helper! Who incidently buggered off when the real work began!

I find it worrying that we have so many supports! I thought sport was meant to be good for ya!?!

That's another room out of the way!
Handy tip #1 : To ensure a succesful decluttering session, just throw the lot in the bloody bin!

  2. It gets easier I have to admit, it's got to be easier in the long run hasn't it! I mean if you keep stuff you don't really need then it's just going to need tidying up again at some point! hahah

  3. Looking good! I love to declutter and I'm due for another round. Gotta say though...your laundry room didn't look too terribly cluttered. And it's HUGE too! Lucky woman, you!

  6. I also have to declutter. It is something that I have been putting off. After having read your post, it made me want to put it off even longer....but your laundry looks fantastic. Neat, orderly and sooo user friendly. Now I am torn....hold onto the extras that I may need *one day* or just wing and see and chuck it all out?

  7. Ah now I would say chuck it out! Set yourself freeeeeee! :D

  8. Yay! I've converted someone! (Or should I say "inspired"!;) )

I'm still in love with this idea, I don't know why I haven't done it sooner. I tried having a weekly schedule where I clean one room each day... but then I'd miss one for some reason and the whole thing would be shot. This way I can have some lazy days during the week and still stay caught up. ;)

  9. Ooooh! Ahhhhh! Your before and after pictures are MAGNIFICENT! I'm salivating over all those wonderful (virtually empty) cabinets you have now... all that storage! All that tidiness!!
Love that helper you've got, too... I've got helpers like that, also - who suddenly disappear when it's really time to get the hands dirty! lol

  11. You have a great home Sue, and great to still have empty shelves - I am ruthless when de-cluttering, "if in doubt, chuck it out" funny though the stuff we don't chuck just seems to disappear or get absorbed by the house lol weird that
